Frequently asked questions
- What is your style?
I don't think to have a perticular style.
The client and the place which needs decorating provide the style.
Professionnal or private space, I like to stand aside and put the problem centraly.
That is to say, I think architecture before decoration.
Instead of saying « it's beautifull », I prefer saying « it works »!
-
What is your minimum budget?
One can consult me for a simple advice.
But interior design implies a minimum price...
- What is your ideal client?
Customer accepting to be driven where he or she wouldn't have gone alone.
But also the one who criticises me when needed and makes my work better.
When a client is genuine enough to communicate his/her dreams and fears, he is going you his/her to trust.
Trust is essential.
- Do you refuse some type of yards?
No but I might refuse some attitudes of client. Attitudes that will not allow a quality interior design.
There can't be a good architect without a « good prince ». The « meeting » between those has to happen.
In some cases, it is also possible I am not the right person.
- Is there some work of design you can't bear?
There are only three types of work I don't enjoy.
The pretentious spiritless luxuriousness. Works of design with too much « yin » or on the contrary too much « yang ».
- What is your favorite professionnal?
Tadao Ando and John Pawson for space, light and the divine.
Starck for the scenery and may-be Liaigre for elegance.
- What is your favorite architectural element?
Color and matter of course but more singularly the reflection, a fuzzy image and transparency.
I have also a funny attraction for electric lighting, that is to say the light of night and the light of mankind.
The comb or the bird wing inspire me as wel...
- An essential professionnal quality?
I can't mention only one.
May-be to understand what the client is unable to express.
Being both: a composer and a conductor of orchestra.
Being able to visualize twenty things at the same time in order to measure and to control the effects.
Being able to draw and to write; to speak and to be silent.
Not to mistake your desires for those of the client.
Finding the best possible combination so that the final result is both: an obviousness and a surprise!
- I heard the title of interior designer doesn't exist in France. Is that true?
Yes and no.
Yes, interior design is an art where you can find the best but also the worst. Sometimes, there is a misuse of language.
No, there isa rigourous training of 5 years after the A-level which is recognised by organizations such as U.N.A.I.D or C.F.A.I.
